DHA has experienced an incredible increase of patient need since 2007. During the months of March and April 2007, 192 more patients than could be seen called in need of treatment. In just the month of March 2009, 248 more patients than could be seen called.

Get Paid In Smiles volunteer1

If you are a dentist, hygienist, oral surgeon, pediatric dentist, or have other skills, we need you!

There are so many patients that are desperately seeking affordable dental care that our staff cannot accommodate the need.  This population of patients have identified with and trust DHA to provide them with the care they and their families need and are coming to us in overwhelming numbers to get it.  For every one patient we are able to treat, we have to turn away at least three due to lack of appointment times with a dentist. Because we are a nonprofit, our budget only allows us to have part time staff; the rest of the dentistry is provided on a volunteer basis.

Hopefully, this is where you come in.  DHA will work around your schedule, your preferences in procedures, and patient profiles.  The clinic is furnished with modern equipment, an abundance of supplies, and bi-lingual staff that have accumulated over 30 years in assisting.  Clinic staff is usually the most complimented feature at DHA by visiting doctors and hygienists.  Because we have volunteers and students coming through the clinic, our staff is wonderful with making them feel comfortable.  We have five operatories so feel free to bring a friend, or some of your own staff- there’s plenty of room! volunteer2

Patients here are very grateful for your help. If you decide to volunteer, don’t be surprised if there are all kinds of homemade goodies in the DHA kitchen, brought by the patients. They are people, just like you and me, who work very hard to take care of their children and provide a good life for their families.  You can leave the clinic knowing you really did put a smile on someone’s face for a patient that could not otherwise afford it.
One afternoon a year, one morning once a month, or taking an occasional pro bono case in your own office will make a difference in someone’s life.

Whether you work fulltime, are retired, between jobs, or looking for an opportunity to work with other dental professionals who share your values, DHA would be honored to have you.
